My submission for the Hardware Jams “Reverse” Weekend Challenge.
What a fun sound design challenge! My idea for this challenge was to record a couple of minutes jam that could be reversed for the second half of the jam. This involved designing half the sounds backwards so that I would get the sound I wanted when it was reversed. For example, setting up sounds with long attack and very short decay would result in percussive noises when reversed. I sequenced a lot of this jam with a new module I’ve been designing for making wonky beats and ended up with a chilled out beat. Finally I wrote a poem, about regrets and missing someone when they are gone which can be read line-by-line forwards and backwards. So this is read over the top of the jam and reverses at the half way point with the reverse of the music.
This week’s challenge prompt:
We would like to hear a 5 minutes or under jam displaying some fun use of this idea! (It's okay those who don't have any samplers, we would suggest you use pad sounds with long attacks and short decays). Would you use an obscure Vocal sample? Maybe some pads like they used to use in jungle tracks? the skys the limit with this one
Use anything in your arsenal, please keep jams under 5 minutes, please no copyright material and the challenge ends on the streamthrough start so get them jams in!
Don't forget, the main aim of this all is to jam so i'm implimenting one small rule change... HAVE FUN!

This week it was great to deep dive into some sound design and trying to make sounds that would sound how I wanted when they were reversed.
My DIY Eurorack Synth Rules

I aim to meet the following criteria when adding modules to my synth:
◦ I must have constructed it.
This can be a kit or from scratch but I must have soldered it
◦ The audio signal path should be analog.
I'm trying to avoid digital modules so I can learn more about analog electronics
◦ Learn something new
Try to learn something while constructing the module. Learn about the circuits, experiment with different signal processing options. Be creative.
◦ Have fun
