Retouching skin from your portraiture need not be a long drawn out affair. It also doesn't have to result in your models looking like plastic dolls. This is a technique that combines the use of Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop in a simple and easy to follow work path.
From a shoot I recently undertook here in Okinawa, Japan, with the wonderful model Natalie Nicole Chacon. The idea of the shoot was to project an elegant yet depressing scenario of a young lady jilted at the Altar on her wedding day.
Make up was provided by Audra Pesicka.
Beyond the shoot it is simple to get slider rage as it were, especially when dealing with textures and blemishes left from the application of make up. As cameras get more and more powerful they start picking up the minutest of details. Mascara flecks, birth marks, pimples and freckles etc etc. All of these tend to be frowned upon, except the freckles maybe, by photo editors for print editorial. This technique shows you how to quickly and effectively accomplish great, yet believable, results in a relatively short amount of time.
