Coming face to face with Okinawa's rarest snake was an absolutely incredible moment. After years of digging through the undergrowth and filming all manner of incredible wildlife I managed this fortunate encounter with a snake that has an almost mythical status amongst the few dedicated wildlife photographers on the island.
The encounter actually took place in March of 2021 but the footage was kept under wraps as I tried to push it out to interested parties for potential stock, alas that was not to be so while this was filmed and edited a few years back I now release this for the world to see.
I believe there may be one other recently filmed 20sec clip of an encounter that's been put on YouTube but this I believe my encounter was the first time this species was filmed to the extent, and clarity, that I managed. Just an incredible moment.
