Welcome to what I hope will be an eye opening and adventurous series of videos about my exploits to photograph some of the best locations around the island of Okinawa and its neighbouring islands of the Keramas and Iriomote. I will be doing so using a range of lenses in conjunction with the KANI Brand of filters I use for my Landscape imaging.
Trying to photograph, or film, in bright midday sun throws up numerous challenges to both photographers and videographers. It becomes almost impossible to accomplish the shallow depth of field associated with portraiture photography or cinematic footage. That is unless we find a solution to reducing the amount of ambient light hitting our imaging sensors. To solve that issue we employ the use of Neutral Density filters, sunglasses for your camera if you like. Using these filters allows us to significantly reduce the amount of light entering our cameras depending on the grade of filter relative to the look we are trying to accomplish in the final media.
This video introduces you to the range of Neutral Density Filters, both solid and graduated, that I use for my mixed media imaging. KANI Branded multi-coated filters are made from superior German Glass with B270 Schott Optical Glass rating. I’ve also been fortunate enough to be road testing their new 95mm adapter ring and filter holder in conjunction with my Irix 15mm f2.4 lens. Now normally a super wide angle lens is something we often cannot filter due to a bulbous front element characteristic. Alas the Irix Lens is designed in such a way that we can indeed mount filters to the front element for easier landscape photography.
