Drive America’s Highways west along Interstate 40 for approximately 155 miles from Kodak to Lebanon, Tennessee. This segment of I-40 traverses a variety of Tennessee landscapes, starting just outside the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains and ending on the outskirts of the Nashville metropolitan area.
The video begins in Kodak at the interchange with Tennessee State Route 66, a major access route to Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, and Gatlinburg. From this point, Interstate 40 continues westward, passing through the rolling hills and valleys that form the transitional zone between the Smoky Mountains and the Tennessee Valley.
Entering the Knoxville area, I-40 intersects Interstate 640, providing a northern bypass of downtown Knoxville. However, in this video, the route follows I-40 through the heart of Knoxville, crossing over the Holston River just before it joins the French Broad River to form the Tennessee River. Major interchanges within Knoxville include U.S. Highway 441 (Broadway), Interstate 275 (providing access to North Knoxville), and Interstate 75, where the two interstates combine for a westward trek out of the city.
West of Knoxville, I-40/I-75 run together through the western suburbs, passing through communities like Farragut before reaching the split near Loudon County, where I-75 continues southwest towards Chattanooga and I-40 heads west toward Nashville. From there, I-40 continues westward through the scenic ridge-and-valley terrain of East Tennessee, passing through Kingston, where it crosses the Clinch River over Watts Bar Lake on an elevated bridge. This section provides expansive views of the surrounding water and hills as the highway transitions toward the Cumberland Plateau.
As the route progresses westward, it ascends the Cumberland Plateau, where the terrain becomes more rugged, and towns are smaller and more spaced out. Crossville serves as the main population center on the plateau and a notable waypoint along this section of I-40.
Descending into Middle Tennessee, the highway continues through Sparta and Cookeville, the latter being a larger regional hub and home to Tennessee Tech University. Beyond Cookeville, the landscape flattens into rolling farmland, passing Baxter, Silver Point, and Gordonsville before entering Wilson County.
The video concludes at the interchange with Interstate 840 near Lebanon, which offers a loop route around Nashville’s southern suburbs. This segment of I-40 provides travelers a good mix of mountainous terrain, plateau crossings, and agricultural heartland, making it a representative drive through the varied geography of Tennessee.

Drive America’s Highways for 77 miles east along Interstate 70 from West Street in downtown Indianapolis to the Ohio state line near Richmond, Indiana.
The drive begins near the western edge of downtown Indianapolis, where Interstate 70 enters the city’s central freeway network. Heading east, the highway approaches the South Split and joins northbound Interstate 65 along the southeastern side of downtown. The two interstates remain concurrent through the downtown corridor before reaching the North Split, where Interstate 65 continues north and Interstate 70 turns east toward the eastern side of Indianapolis.
Beyond downtown, Interstate 70 passes several major city interchanges, including connections with Rural Street and Keystone Avenue, Emerson Avenue, Shadeland Avenue, and Post Road. The highway crosses Interstate 465 near the eastern edge of Indianapolis, after which the dense urban landscape begins to give way to suburban development, industrial properties, and more widely spaced interchanges.
East of the beltway, the surroundings gradually transition from warehouses, commercial development, and residential areas to the open farmland of Hancock County. Interstate 70 passes through the Mount Comfort area before reaching the State Road 9 interchange, which provides the primary connection to Greenfield, U.S. Route 40, and surrounding communities in east-central Indiana.
Continuing east, the highway enters Henry County and passes north of Knightstown, Spiceland, and New Castle. This portion of the drive follows a mostly rural corridor of broad agricultural fields, wooded stream valleys, truck stops, and widely spaced interchanges serving communities located several miles from the interstate.
Interstate 70 then continues through western Wayne County near Cambridge City and north of Hagerstown. Approaching Richmond, the highway enters a busier transportation, commercial, and industrial corridor serving eastern Indiana. Interchanges connect with U.S. Route 35, U.S. Route 27, State Road 227, and U.S. Route 40 before the interstate reaches the eastern edge of Richmond and continues toward the Ohio state line.
The video concludes as Interstate 70 crosses the Indiana–Ohio state line, where the highway continues east toward Dayton and Columbus.

🚙 Drive Americas Highways for 7 miles along Interstate 30, through the 30Crossing project, in Little Rock and North Little Rock, Arkansas.
in 2019, the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) undertook its largest project ever the complete reconstruction of the bridges, ramps, and overpasses along Interstate 30 through downtown Little Rock and North Little Rock, Arkansas.
Prior to the upgrade, traffic was often backed up for miles during even moderately heavy loads due to the way the ramps were designed. In addition, entering I-30 from I-630 often resulted in miles-long pileups due to a bottleneck at the merge.
With the 30Crossing project more or less complete, these problems have been resolved. Now, travelling both directions across the Arkansas River, are collector lanes designed allow through traffic to stay on the mainline highway while those entering or exiting downtown Little Rock have a little more time to figure things out
This video shows the 30Crossing project from both directions, along with the collector lanes. Starting with I-30 east at the I-440/I-530 junction south of downtown, we travel north through Little Rock, cross the Arkansas River into North Little Rock, and end the segment heading eastbound on I-40.
The second segment is in reverse. Beginning just before I-30 starts, we turn south onto I-30 westbound to travel through North Little Rock. Crossing the Arkansas River into Little Rock, we pass the interchange with I-630 before ending the segment at the I-440/I-530 interchange.
The 3rd segment is of the westbound collector lane. Starting just before the US-70 exit, we travel south on the collector lane to its end, where we take the ramp for AR-10. Before the 30Crossing project, the exit to AR-10 was a sharp curve to the right, then down a ramp to Cumberland Street, where AR-10 began. Now, the ramp, 1 of 4, loops around to 3rd street where travelers must turn left towards Cumberland St. to reach AR-10.
The final segment is of the eastbound collector lane. Starting at eastern terminus of I-630, we follow the ramp to I-30 where we continue onto the collector lane before ending the segment at US-70 in North Little Rock.

🚙 Drive Americas Highways for 7 miles west along Interstate 44 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Interstate 44 slices across the heart of Oklahoma City as one of its major arterial freeways, linking key districts and interchanges while serving both local and through traffic. This particular westbound stretch begins at the junction with Interstate 35, a critical north-south corridor that brings together regional traffic from Texas and Kansas. Almost immediately, I-44 becomes a fast-moving, multi-lane freeway that skirts the north side of the city, offering drivers a direct route toward the northwest suburbs and beyond.
As the video moves westward, the route passes near the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds and provides access to several major cross streets and surrounding neighborhoods. Motorists will pass NE 36th Street, MLK Avenue, and other key connectors as the highway weaves through a mix of industrial corridors and older residential districts. While not traditionally scenic, this portion of I-44 is functionally significant—handling commuter traffic, freight movement, and serving as a bypass of downtown Oklahoma City for those continuing toward Lawton or Amarillo.
The drive concludes near the interchange with Oklahoma State Highway 66 (OK-66), a modern connection to one of America’s most storied highways—Historic Route 66. This transition hints at the deeper road heritage embedded in the region, where modern interstates often trace the footsteps of classic alignments. While this particular segment is only about 7 miles long, it plays a vital role in Oklahoma Citys transportation grid and offers a brief but efficient window into the citys freeway infrastructure.
