On January 21st 2025, we gathered outside the ministerial office of Victorian Premier, Jacinta Allan, to protest the government's support of the pig industry.
We laid the bodies of dead piglets outside the office, each one symobolising a piggery which had been investigated by anonymous activists over the weekend.
At the rally, we laid the piglets on a white sheet and surrounded them with flowers and photos from the farms where they had been found.
We gave them the dignity and respect that they were never shown in their short lives on the farms where they perished.
FTP’s Executive Director, Chris Delforce, was interviewed by radio station 3AW in relation to the rally.
Chris spoke about the motivation behind the rally - the investigation into 20 piggeries last weekend, where footage captured by the civilian investigators showed horrific conditions.
In the over a decade that he has been investigating piggeries in the state, he says has seen very little change, and believes that the industry is beyond redemption.
