Footage from Kia-Ora shows mother pigs in tiny crates and piglets with their tails already clipped off. In the group housing section, pigs were living on hard concrete floors with wounds and scratches from aggression.
Kia-Ora sends their pigs to Diamond Valley Pork, the state’s largest slaughterhouse, where painful carbon dioxide gas is used to irreversibly render the pigs unconscious before their throats are slit.
In 2023, we installed hidden cameras inside the gondolas to capture the final moments of thousands of pigs.
From birth to slaughter, there is only suffering for the pigs inside this industry.
