The Punta Olímpica Tunnel is the longest vehicular tunnel in Peru and the highest in the Americas, located at 4,735 meters (15,538 feet) above sea level. It connects the Callejón de Huaylas and Conchucos valleys in the Cordillera Blanca, or White Mountain Range, in Peru. Countless hairpin switchbacks carved into the face of an unbelievably steep mountainside lead to the summit tunnel, which is bored beneath a massive glacier-capped peak.

In this video, we drive up to and through the tunnel from the west and explore the stunning landscapes near the tunnel entrance. Overall, this is one of the most beautiful drives in the world—an experience we will never forget.
