The hike to the historic Park Butte fire lookout offers awe-inspiring views of Koma Kulshan (Mt. Baker), along with unobstructed panoramic views of the Twin Sisters and much of the North Cascades. In this video, we snowshoe to the lookout on a sunny day shortly after the season's first substantial snowfall. This area is open to snowmobiles and UAVs, but since snow conditions were unsuitable for motorized travel near the trailhead and deep snow blanketed Park Butte, we had the lookout all to ourselves! This is a classic Pacific Northwest destination for good reason. Experiencing such natural beauty in a tranquil setting gives one a sense of well-being and connection to the world we live in.
