Sorry i've been away for so long - just busy with life and grinding this game! Got a ton of great material for you over the next week, though. =)
Germany is a great map for 5-6P games since the expensive builds make you more likely to see the Step 3 auction, so you'll see it a lot when Stein is involved in these larger games. Germany's his favorite map anyway, so hey!
Was thrilled with how i started this one, getting to power 3 cities on turn 2 with the 16. Doing this with 15/16 nets you a *huge* money advantage over the field. However, my next plant after that may have been a mistake; sure, i was able to get to 4 cities right away with 16 + 22, but my 5th city was expensive and didn't net me any more useful connections for later. In retrospect i should've waited for an efficient 4-capacity plant and just stayed at 4 cities for Step 1.
Paid a lot of money for the 30 when that came, but that was fine; 30 is incredible in 6ers given trash's improved restock rate. My big mistake was on the 34...should have just given that up. Got caught up in making sure Selas paid a "fair" price for it and that burned me. =(
That being said, i still ended up just $1 away from winning this one. Mastaba played a smart game after a rough start (e.g. buying 06), with 28 being the plant that got him going. That and 33 allowed him to make just enough money to reach 15 cities at the end...not an elektro to spare!
