Hey, another 5er! Hard to get those during weeknights in the US of A, and this was another good one.
Very pleased with my start, landing 28 + 13 with exactly 5 decently-priced cities in Step 1. Starting with 03 gave daroj extremely cheap builds that allowed him to win the auction for the 26 and power 5 cities on turn 4, so he was the clear money leader.
Market stalled after that, until teokop used his massive amount of space to trigger Step 2. Market STILL stalled a bit after that but eventually we got to the big stuff. The key point of the game was the 30 - i paid over $70 for it, which was clearly too much in retrospect. Was thinking in terms of how much i could pay and build to 11 cities that turn, but should've thought more in terms of whether i could end the game on the following turn. 31 ended up going at cost, which easily could've allowed me to win the game had i gotten that instead...
As is, we came to a tight finish with daroj being forced to buy a smaller plant than his closest opposition. Once again, being rich can pay off in 5ers if you build aggressively at the right times!
