Hoo boy, this is a strong group for 4P! And yet more Deutschland for yall...love this map.
Rare footage of me (or anyone) bidding $6 for 05, and i'm very glad i did! Last build is real rough on this map. Should've paid $6 for 03 had i known that, but oh well.
Turn 2 bought a key decision: whether to bid for the 13, or pass and take the 16. 16 wasn't necessarily the greatest plant for me since i couldn't get 3 cities that turn, but it absolutely would allow Stein to do that since his cities were so cheap. In the end i opted to bid for 13, and that was a mistake in retrospect. The market stalled some and Stein made way more money than the rest of us during that period.
Thought i was the favorite to win when i got the 25 at cost after a long period of only powering 2 cities. Got rather unlucky when i bid on 27 though...it wasn't that great of a plant for Stein, but it would be perfect for me to transition to Step 3. The exact two plants i didn't want to see drop (21 & 20) both arrived immediately afterward!
Opted to play the turn-order game after that, and that also rewarded me with 46 at cost! Problem was that i divided my builds between red & brown, and Amitss proceeded to make a big jump and steal the rest of red from me. Didn't quite expect that, thinking it would make more sense for him to expand elsewhere...but maybe i should've built one of the twins instead of Osnabruck.
The end came down to a money race, and Stein beat me by a decent margin after i spent a long time calculating the best build for my chances. Though i got two monster plants at cost, Stein's early money advantage with 16 was just too much to overcome. Lesson learned!
