Peach Strudel
May be made with apples or pears
(For a 12" Camp Oven)
Ingredients:
12 medium ripe peaches, sliced
1 egg
1 cup sugar, plus some to sprinkle over peaches
2-3 TBS. cinnamon
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 stick butter
1 cup flour
Directions:
1. Cut peaches in half. Remove pits and skin, place onto cutting board flat side down. Slice to desired size. Place peach pieces into the Camp Oven.
2. Sprinkle with a mixture of sugar and cinnamon over the top of peaches. Dot with lumps of butter. Prepare coals to bake at 350 F. (7 briquettes under oven wall & 16 Briquettes on oven lid)
3. In a bowl sift sugar, baking powder, flour, and salt together. Into this break one egg. Mix until it is crumbly. Spread this over top of peaches. Bake in Camp Oven until crust is golden brown and firm. About 25-35 minutes. Serve as is or with milk, whipped cream or ice cream. Enjoy!
