I'm a big fan of the Leeds 5km Series so have been intrigued by the York 5km Series. I booked the February Race but had to defer as I had just had my wisdom tooth pulled out. The weather was awful! So much snow had fallen in Leeds that I was convinced that the race would be cancelled... but York didn't get a single flake! So the race was on and it's been a while since I properly raced 5km so I was excited!
I didn't warm up despite the sub zero temperatures, and I was filming, so far from ideal in terms of running max speed but I was super surprised by my result! It was an incredibly fast race and I was back of the pack but that felt pretty exciting! I'd totally recommend this race, or Heslington parkrun (although congestion might make parkrun PBs difficult as it's a fairly busy one) if you are chasing a 5km PB.
Definitely worth the trip over to York for!
