This was such a special day for us! Poppy ran her first parkrun on her 4th birthday before declaring 5km too far and then jumping back in the buggy the following week! Most weeks since then Poppy has had the choice of whether to parkrun or not. Most weeks she has chosen to but some weeks the duvet has won the fight! The great covid parkrun pause and some social activities on a Saturday morning have played an important part of Poppy's parkrun journey too. But I love that! I love that it has been, and will be Poppy's own parkrun journey.

I loved that Poppy thought that nobody was coming and I loved seeing her face that morning when she realised that people had come to celebrate with her. Thanks to each and every person for everything they did to make Poppy's morning one to remember.

I'm such a proud mum and I love that parkrun has helped Poppy grow into a happy and confident young person. I know that her dad would be incredibly proud of her too and of what she's achieved in the ten years since his death.

Huge thanks to the wonderful team at Potternewton parkrun for making this celebration what it was. I am so grateful to have this wonderful parkrun so close to home.
