After being diagnosed with Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome the physio gave me strengthening exercises that I needed to get on with... But first I had one race that I really wanted to do. The stunning Trail Sunday Trail Marathon in beautiful Nidderdale.
After pulling out from the Yorkshire Marathon I was determined to at least start this race. I was fully prepared to pull out if I needed to as I had no idea how my knee would react to what I was asking of it. I wouldn't have started the race if I had a more serious injury or if I didn't think it was right for me. I wouldn't encourage anyone else to run injured. The way I looked at it then it would be a gorgeous few miles in stunning countryside, so if I had to pull out then I had nothing to lose, plus I would be carrying full kit and there were plenty of people on the trails so I was safer testing my knee in a race than on my own.
The first half of the race was fantastic! Beautiful views, my knee settled into it and didn't give me any problems. From halfway it was a bit of a struggle...
I hope you enjoy the video but please look after yourselves and don't run if injured! I highly recommend checking out Punk Panther races, the scenery is always spectacular and they are run by an awesome team.
Happy running,
Nicola :)
