I had to pull out of this race last year due to injury so I was delighted to be at the start line with a huge pacing flag attached to my back! I absolutely love marathon pacing. I find it incredibly fun and incredibly rewarding. Storm Ashley made things interesting and this was definitely the most effort I've ever had to put into running a 5 hour marathon! Whenever there was a headwind then we really struggled. Another struggle that was real was keeping your race number attached! They weren't designed for storm conditions! It was so incredibly satisfying to see everyone achieving their goals and smashing it. Congratulations to Ollie for not only completing his first ever marathon but for doing 20 finish line press-ups with me!
Huge congratulations to everyone who completed this marathon in less than ideal conditions... Not an easy day at the office. I had to laugh at the beautiful sunshine at the finish, the law of sod strikes again!
