Over the years I have come to realize that the hack 'n slash genre is amongst my favorite type of videogames. I have already played and archived various entries of Bayonetta, Devil May Cry and Ninja Gaiden and recently I was looking for new hack 'n slash titles to join the archives. And thus I found Onechanbara Z2 Chaos which tells the story of two vampiric sisters who take on hordes of undead and other monsters.
The style of the characters is pretty outrageous, but I do have to admit that I like it. The game does not take itself too serious and does not feel as edgy as Lollipop Chainsaw. What surprised me the most is that the gameplay is actually pretty solid with plenty of combos to master and the timing of the button presses also plays into getting better combos and action.
You can upgrade a lot and there is also a score ranking to add replay value. Probably the worst part of the game are its uninspired environments and espeically the last 3-4 levels feel very repetitive and uninspired. I am curious how the other Onechanbara games are and would love to add those to the archive as well.
