...Happy New Year firebugs !

...This morning I thought I'd ķick the new year off with a one species fire bow drill using sea hibiscus (hibiscus tiliaceus). I got this idea of @nwprimate originally & basically it means every component for the set comes from the same tree or shrub, the bearing block the tinder bundle, the whole shebang.

...I'd already got the cord together in my last post so I just had to whittle a set out of the offcuts I had drying. They weren't the biggest of pieces to work with but I managed to get a small set together & I used the dry inner bark & a few curls for the tinder bundle.

...During my first attempt the camera cut out so I had to go back & repeat the whole process again but as you see I got it together again to welcome my first #fireitupfriday in for the new year.
