In September, 2012, I traveled to Ely, NV, to visit the Nevada Northern Railway Museum and to rent a steam locomotive for a couple of hours. I was shown the ropes by Henry Stewart, a licensed engineer, and then allowed to pilot the locomotive (with Henry in the cab) from Ely to Keystone and back, a distance of 14 miles. I took the shots of the locomotive in action with the next renter at the throttle.
