It's that time of the year again! Nesting season is in full swing for the Baya Weavers!
These ingenious little avian nest builders never fail to fascinate me.
This male Baya Weaver, sporting a bright yellow crown, was busily flying in & out, constructing his special nest. Returning each time with a fine strand of grass in his bill, he proceeded to weave each strand into the nest methodically. No need for a template!
In between the weaving, he was calling merrily, as if advertising his amazing nest building skills.
It takes the Baya Weaver an average of 3 laborious weeks to complete a brand-new nest. His completed home is a mansion relative to his size!
Baya Weavers are common residents in Singapore.
