After three weeks with the Motorola Defy Satellite Link, connection reliability remains inconsistent. Messages often fail to send on the first attempt, requiring retries or workarounds like dropping a waypoint to force a GPS fix. The device is rugged and the SOS service works, but if you need dependable two-way messaging in the backcountry, the inReach is still the more reliable option. The Defy works as a backup or budget option if you understand its limitations.
