Mugu Peak is a short but steep climb in Point Mugu State Park, gaining 1200 feet in about a mile. The route follows a historic Chumash trail to a summit with views across the Santa Monica Mountains and out to the Channel Islands. Expect a tough ascent, limited shade, and exposed conditions. This hike works year-round but can be hot in summer. No permit required. Park at the PCH trailhead and prepare for a workout with a payoff at the top.
