Humphreys Peak is Arizona's highest point at 12,633 feet, a 10-mile round trip with 3,300 feet of gain starting from the Snowbowl parking lot north of Flagstaff. The trail climbs through forest, passes through Kachina Peaks Wilderness, and follows switchbacks to a rocky summit ridge above treeline. Start early since parking fills fast. Altitude is real here, bring layers for variable weather, and turn around if storms appear. The second half gets steep with false summits and exposed terrain. Plan for a full day and respect closure areas sacred to local tribes.
