It is time to archive the current horror sensation that is sweeping Steam and YouTube. Mole clearly takes inspiration from other horror classics like Iron Lung and Mouthwashing. But within that it creates its own vibe, gameplay and story that result in something unique and memorable. We play as a crewmember in a giant ship that is drilling into the earth to find the source of a mysterious signal.
Our daily routine starts out simple by conveying messages, doing maintenance and inputting coordinates for the ship to continue. But each day new and mysterious things start happening and we find out more about the main character and his tragic backstory.
What I personally really loved in this game is how it introduced new areas and new little gameplay mechanics steadily throughout the campaign. By having you able to go to new places and perform new tasks, it keeps the game fresh while also holding the player's curiosity on what is happening in the story.
I do think Mouthwashing left a larger impression on me, but Mole is definitely also one to recommend for lovers of horror and storytelling!
