Today we check out a demo for the upcoming game Banban Isle Rangers. This is being developed by a group of devoted fans of the Garten of Banban series. It's a twist on the platform genre from the PlayStation 1 and Nintendo 64 era. The style mostly reminds me of games like Croc, Gex and Tonic Trouble.
We play as Banban in the demo and it surprised me how much content there was. Just like Mario 64 or Banjo Kazooie, you have to collect certain objects as the main goal. Each level holds multiple of these shards that you need to collect and for some you need to perform specific tasks. This offers great replayability and the worlds and characters are very colorful and lovely to explore.
I do hope that the game will still be tweaked before release as tight controls are so important for platform games and the controls were still a bit rough and unprecise. But other than that I am very much looking forward to this game that hopefully will expand the Banban universe while also offering a trip down memory lane.
