Installing an oil catch tank captures the oily vapours coming from the crankcase. Otherwise it enters the turbo, inlet manifold and intercooler. After that cleaning the intercooler should also be done. This is also often a service requirement on turbo cars. All this was done on this R55, R56 Mini Cooper S. It cut the smoke from the exhaust which was apparent at idle. Removing the bumper (fender) is required for cleaning the intercooler. I show the stage of reinstalling the bumper so removal is just the opposite. It’s all a bit easier than you think if the you have the right tools.
You will need some Torx bits with a wrench.T25 bit needed, but a set is better. If you don’t have a set, get some on
