Peter talks about meekness and Christian Zionism. The great A.W. Tozer said that the greatest spiritual disaster of the 20th century was the publication of the Scofield Reference Bible. Scofield’s notes said that the kingdom never came at the first coming of Christ. He taught that Jesus never bound Satan, that Jesus never did sit on the throne of David and that the Church is not the new Israel. He said the beliefs that Christ brought the Kingdom, bound Satan and then sat on the throne of David at his first coming, (and that the Church is the true Israel) came from the Catholic Church and not from the Bible. Scofield taught this will all occur on his second coming seven years after the Church is raptured. Scofield taught that if an individual or a nation blesses the Jews they will be blessed and if they curse the Jews they will be cursed. He taught that the Sermon on the Mount and the gospels themselves are for those under the law. They are for the thousand year reign of Christ during the millennium. Christians on the other hand are not bound by Christ’s legalistic teaching because they are living under grace in the age of grace.
This false teaching has led America to make the nation of Israel their number one ally and to be unequally yoked supporting Israel’s sins and corruption. But only the meek will inherit the earth Jesus said. Just as Moses was the meekest man on the earth Jesus commanded us to learn from Him, the Messiah. He said: “I am meek.”
Paul said it this way when he wrote in Romans 4:13: “For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.” Only those in Christ, the seed of Abraham, abiding in His meekness, will inherit the new earth and the new heavens.
