In this 23 minute talk Peter Helland continues to give the reason why most theologians and scholars especially of the Catholic church reject the position that Jesus, the apostles and the early church fathers held about God creating the world in six literal days and literally resting on the seventh day. He agrees with Christian historian, Mark Noll, that theology today, especially in America, has been mostly determined by the cannons or guns of Sherman and Grant. Despite knowing that Noll said it took him 20 to 30 years after much study to finally determine that the scriptures do not condemn slaveholding or that the master/slave relationship is not sinful per se. But the damage is done. Most America Christians believe slaveholding is sinful. Following the North’s victory very soon the symbolic cannons of Sherman and Grant took aim at the Christian doctrine of Creation. The regime following Lincoln and its culture rejected the ten commandments and scripture and chose the illusions of science instead. They decided the universe is 14 billion years old and the earth 4 billion. They teach Genesis 1-11 is pre-history myth and geology has discovered the real truth. Tremendous pressure is put on all teachers and Christian leaders who reject this. Positions become very hard to get for those who openly hold to special creation in six days.
