Matt Eby attempts to summarize the basic principles of Dispensationalism or Christian Zionism. Matt is very qualified to discern this theology. He grew up in Elkhart Indiana as a member of First Baptist Church where he learned the theology of the Scofield Reference Bible. It was very natural then after high school to go to school at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. C.I. Scofield joined Moody's ministry very shortly after his conversion and it was his theology the school adopted. After Moody Matt studied theology at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Massachusetts, exposing himself to a wide variety of theologies. Finally he went to Wheaton College to work on getting his Phd in theology. While at Moody he started abandoning his trust in the Scofield footnotes. By the time he finished Wheaton he had come to reject most of the distinctives of dispensationalism. In this discussion with Peter Helland he summarizes what he learned in this area of theology on his life journey in the Scriptures. Matt is definitely concerned about this theology causing Christians to show favoritism and partiality to the Jewish people and especially to the nation of Israel. This special treatment toward the Jews has had devastating effects on the Christian witness to the Muslim people.
