Gus Zuehlke and Peter Helland examine America's revolutionary past in the light of the current revolutionary activity on our streets in America. Peter draws a connection from the radicalism of the American Revolution to the French Revolution and then to the revolution of Haiti in the 1790s. Gus narrates his family tree back to the murder of his Great Great Great Great grandfather and grandmother caused by the French revolutionaries doctrine of radical freedom which stirred up the slaves to murder almost all the plantation owners. They cite the Pulitzer prize winner Gordan S. Wood in his famous book Radicalism of the American Revolution. In this book Wood claims that the revolution really occurred in the home and the shift in the home was from ruling by fear to love as John Locke had taught. America experienced the radicalism of the French Revolution in its civil war. This was seen by the North exalting John Brown who attempted to capture the Federal arsenal at Harper's Ferry in order to equip the slaves with guns to possibly repeat what happened in Haiti. John Brown was funded by the Secret Six, one of whom was the famous preacher Theodore Parker, who supposedly had the biggest church in Boston. Parker advocated in his correspondence the murdering of the slave masters by the slaves. Theodore Parker was in top favor of Abraham Lincoln. The phrase used by Lincoln, "of the people by the people for the people," came from Theodore Parker. Gus and Peter talk about Robert Louis Dabny who wrote that as long as the scriptures were referenced it would be impossible to claim that the scriptures condemned the slave-master relationship. In the middle of the civil war 1863, 95 ministers from the South wrote an open letter to the world appealing to the scripture 1 Timothy 6: 1-5 which condemns teachers who fail to teach that even unsaved slave masters are to be regarded as worthy of all honor. And that scripture commands Christians to withdraw from these false teachers. The 95 ministers said they were compelled to join the South in withdrawing from the North because of such scriptures. Peter claims that the Black Lives Matter movement is even more radical than the French Revolutionaries.
