Peter Helland looks at the reason St. Paul commands women to be silent in the churches and to wear an head covering during worship. He attempts to explain why Paul commands that men not allow women to teach or have authority over men. St. Paul writes that the man came first and that the woman was deceived. Eve was superstitious and one might say dangerous in that she taught that God said that if they touched the fruit on the tree of the knowledge of good and evil they would die. Satan used this perversion of God's Word to trick her into eating. Thus women are prohibited by God from teaching and authority. Plus God punishes the woman by telling her: "Thy desire shall be for (against) thy husband and he shall rule over thee."
