This was one of my favorite songs of 1999, and it's by the Australian electronic music duo called Madison Avenue. The track's catchy riff was sampled from "Ma Quale Idea," a 1980 hit song by Italian singer Pino D'Angiò. "Don't Call Me Baby" became a worldwide hit, going to #1 on the UK Pop chart and also in New Zealand and Scotland. The single reached #2 in their native Australia, and was a Top Ten hit in countries like Ireland, Greece, Norway, and Portugal. In the USA, the single went to #1 on the Dance chart and crossed over to Billboard's Hot 100 chart, peaking at a disappointing #88, making this another of those songs that I thought deserved to be a bigger hit in America.
