The Chicago-based band called The Ides of March had a huge hit in 1970 with this awesome track, which was released as the lead single and title track from their debut album. At the time, "Vehicle" was the fastest-selling single of the Warner Bros. label, and went as high as #2 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart. The single also reached #3 in Canada and has been used in car commercials for the Ford Cougar. I love the brassy arrangements of this song, and have to admit that I always thought this song was by Blood, Sweat and Tears, Tower of Power, or even Chicago; it was only during the early 1990's that I finally learned the name of the group who recorded it.
