This was one of my favorite songs of 1989, and it's by the English rock band called Love and Rockets, whose members were from the gothic rock group Bauhaus. "So Alive" went to #3 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart, #20 on the Dance charts, and became a #1 song on the Modern Rock Tracks chart; the single was also a #1 hit in Canada. In their native UK, the song only managed to peak at #79, something which I found odd and disappointing.
