Andrew Christopher was caught on video in the 4800 block of NW 61st Ave., searching for unlocked vehicles to burglarize. After finally finding one, he discovered a loaded handgun inside. The vehicle’s owner, alerted by a motion notification, confronted him. As Christopher fled, he fired the stolen gun at the victim.
MCSO deputies, Air-One, K-9 Cpl. Lopez, and his partner, K-9 Benno, began a search for Christopher. Air-One was able to locate him hiding in the trees, and deputies detained him. K-9 Benno then tracked and located the stolen firearm near his hiding spot in the woods.
Christopher has been charged with Aggravated Assault, Grand Theft of a Firearm, and three counts of Burglary.
