Durgan's Battery was designed to be as much a fortress as a place of industry and the people of Stalwart are doing all they can to return it to that state. The outer walls are being fortified, weapons and armour forged to outfit the militia, but that won't be enough to push back the Iron Flail. What they need are the cannons atop the western tower, but efforts to reach them have been scuppered by the monsters that inhabit it.
Clearing out the west tower is entirely optional, but I won't say no to the loot contained within it and the quest experience is pretty nice too. That being said, these fights aren't going to be a walk in the park even for how high level our party is. We'll take each room slowly and methodically, for overcondifence something something forces you to reload.

Now that we finally have the local currency of Tarna, Derek is free to spend the rest of his time in the city buying everything that isnt nailed down. After all, if someone is willing to sell it to us then its bound to have a use at some point in the game. Even the more mundane things like fish and fruit can act as extra rations and while we dont need to track our thirst like we did in Shapeir, waterskins will serve their own awesome purpose in due time.
Having spendable money is als how were going to access our very first death and my, is it a silly one. All Ill say is that it involves the apothecarys store, our tinderbox and not knowing when enough is enough.
