There's a rather lengthy task available to us now that begins with checking your mailbox a second time. The letter within is from a mysterious person who directs you to a location within Moominvalley where you'll find another letter that does the same thing. Is there a reward for doing it beyond a pat on the back? We'll not know until we do it.
Though I initially thought that this was something that unlocked pretty early on, some of the steps required to complete it involve accessing places that need the axe to reach, a tool that you gain pretty late in the story. Maybe getting that was the trigger to make this available, but who knows?

Now that we finally have the local currency of Tarna, Derek is free to spend the rest of his time in the city buying everything that isnt nailed down. After all, if someone is willing to sell it to us then its bound to have a use at some point in the game. Even the more mundane things like fish and fruit can act as extra rations and while we dont need to track our thirst like we did in Shapeir, waterskins will serve their own awesome purpose in due time.
Having spendable money is als how were going to access our very first death and my, is it a silly one. All Ill say is that it involves the apothecarys store, our tinderbox and not knowing when enough is enough.
