All aboard! Please join me for this Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway (LGSR) train ride located in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, formerly known as Mauch Chunk ("Bear Mountain"). This train ride was featured on a PBS television special about the most scenic train rides in the U.S. Lehigh Gorge Trains are operated by the Reading & Northern Railroad from Downtown Jim Thorpe into the Lehigh Gorge State Park and back. I was given a private tour of all the train cars, including the diesel cab, the Vista Class Dome Cars, Crown Class Coaches, Standard Coaches, the Open-Air Cars, and the Caboose. The ride is narrated and takes about 35 minutes each way. It was a beautiful sunny day-perfect for a Pennsylvania scenic train ride!
