Floating ring bearings are often used in turbochargers so they can reach speeds over 200.000rpm. This animation shows the pressure distribution in the inner and outer fluid films of such a bearing. The simulation is validated by experimental measurements up to 200.00rpm. Credits: Rob Eling, Mathys te Wierik.
