"I / Y" by Lane 8 & Yotto

Some songs just feel so right. As if the earth couldn't possibly rotate on it's axis right without them. Like the first time you hear it, it sounds like it is the hundredth. As if it's simply part of your DNA. Am I a superlative-filled, music-loving cheeseball? I sure am.
This is the experience I had when I first listened to "I / Y". Sure there might have been a bit of placebo effect going on when I saw that these two had collaborated. Indeed I'm a huge fan of both producers, but I've heard many of theirs songs that I love that don't strike me in the same way.
I don't hear a ton of Yotto influence on "I / Y" other than the arpeggiated synths (which is also very Lane 8), but you can deeply feel the Daniel Goldstein (Lane 8) vibe. In my book Goldstein is the master of what I call the emo-build. What is that you might ask? Well it is a gradual crescendo of synthesized emotion that builds and builds until it works your soul into a goddamn frenzy.
My favorite Yotto songs offer something similar, but his tracks offer more of a brighter, worldly, or let's call it "outwardly" sounding production. Lane 8 offers a very introspective, or "inward", sound to me if that makes any sense. My hunch is Yotto's contribution to the track was more in terms of direction and fine details that make it the glorious piece of music that it is.
Ok, enough dissecting. Just listen and hopefully enjoy as much as I do.
