Kevin Costner releases new song with Modern West to support hurricane relief efforts
To aid the victims of Hurricanes Helene and Milton, Kevin Costner has recorded a heartfelt new song.
Costner and his band Modern West released "Find Your Way" on Friday. He and the band haven't released a song like this in four years.
"During times of darkness, I've clung to the lyrics of songs that truly got me through," Costner said on Instagram. "I hope that 'Find Your Way' provides that kind of refuge for anyone trudging through and losing sight of hope."
"When the darkness overtakes you / And the stars above forsake you / And there's no refuge for days and days / May you always find your way…" is the first line that Costner sings as the song opens.
The actor and director of "Horizon" said that his bandmates Teddy Morgan and Park Chisolm, along with singer-songwriter Kat Higgins, wrote the song.
According to Costner, Higgins also contributed the song's background vocals, while Patrick Sansone played the Hammond organ.
The song also features appearances by Matt Combs, Larry Cobb, Lair Forward, and John Coinman of the Modern West band.
All revenues from the song's pay-what-you-choose Bandcamp sale will go to charity that are aiding Hurricanes Helene and Milton Relief.
"I hope it means something to you guys, and that maybe you'll consider purchasing it to benefit the victims of these terrible storms," Costner concluded his Instagram post.
Morgan posted a link to the song along with the caption, "I hope this raises a lot of support for those suffering," on his Instagram story.
On Wednesday night, Hurricane Milton, a Category 3 hurricane, made landfall in Florida. Millions are still without power, and the storm claimed the lives of at least 16 individuals.
Milton was in the wake of Hurricane Helene, a Category 4 storm that devastated the Southeast and claimed over 230 lives.
