Kenwood KR-9340 Quad Receiver 4x40WPC 1973
Here is another TOTL vintage receiver from the 1970s. I just happened to come across this and had to get one on eBay. $155 plus shipping.
Have about six hours invested and here’s what happened to make it function “like new” in my opinion.
-  Complete re-lamp with a hybrid of incandescent and LEDs. 8 were burned out (some had stopped working after it was shipped based on the sellers pictures)
- Complete silicone lubrication and Deoxit treatment of all moving parts.
- Previous repair correction, the protection relay was replaced at some point and wired to be somewhat external to the board with extension leads. Front/Rear/Left/Right Speakers were not matching up properly and two pairs were swapped.
- Swapped the Molex connectors for the speaker jacks, someone had put them back in the wrong positions which was causing all sorts of strangeness. While it was working, the balance and faders were reverse and outputting incorrectly. 
- Re-stringing of the tuner, this took two hours alone as the service manual doesn’t give much detail that’s needed. I seriously have no idea how I restrung this by trial and error in a very difficult position using small tools.
- Re-biasing per service manual. All four channels were off by +/- 10 millivolts from spec
- Complete clean out inside and outside using ammonia Windex, this was a former smokers receiver.
Of course, I did not make a progression restoration video, this would’ve been a great one. This really was in poor shape when received.
It came with the slot plug-in Quad demodulator box, I’m going to have to figure out how to calibrate it. I’ve never done this before.
It really sounds good and is my second oldest receiver. All original, not planning to recap it as the power circuit is strong and tone circuit sounds great
