Bought this Rockville REQ 42 equalizer for my son. It works great has a lot of inputs and does not quite function the way the 80s and 90s EQ worked.
Features a number of inputs you can select, and then it feeds it to your receiver input.
I was looking for a teardown or a video to see what’s inside and couldn’t find one on the Internet so I decided to do one of my own..
There’s not much in here, looks like everything, including the display is from a single chip. Perhaps there’s other electronics behind the circuit board near the sliders.
Only complaint I have is that this is not a true spectrum analyzer, it just has different modes that cascade the blocks up and down. And it does not react to the audio running through it. I don’t think it would cost much more to have them actually create a spectrum analyzer even if it wasn’t accurate. 
There appears to be an earlier generation of this, which actually does have a real spectrum analyzer and I’ve seen pictures of it, but this is the one that currently is for sale on Amazon Amazon.
Also, I did this video very quickly and I called at the REQ52 but it’s the REQ42.
