I’ve been watching a lot of YouTube videos where people remove yellowing from plastic items via hydrogen peroxide, black lights, and other products.
This is a gel spray I purchased off of Amazon called Retro-Brite.
I decided to whiten my Apple IIe.
The video does not do justice, let me tell you this computer was originally almost orange-ish brown yellow. A very gross looking color and it was a little inconsistent and darker more toward the front.
After applying the gel, wrapping it with Saran Wrap, and putting below black lights for several hours, I’m quite pleased with the results.
Keep in mind these computers always had a tan color and when you compare to the disk drive, it should be the same color which it is.
I did rotate these a number of times over an eight hour period under the black lights. I did also add a little gel here and there.
I did end up adding a couple other items which I did not get into detail, including the keyboard. If you look at the spacebar, it’s noticeably more normal color now.
