Flying Gore Bay to Sault Ste. Marie - Give Hope Wings 2025 | Behind the Scenes with Hope Air
Join us as we fly from Gore Bay to Sault Ste. Marie on the next leg of the Give Hope Wings 2025 Expedition – an aviation adventure across Canada to raise awareness and funds for Hope Air, a Canadian charity providing free medical travel for those in need.
We begin the day at the peaceful Gore Bay Airport, where pilots prep their aircraft for a short flight across Northern Ontario. Onboard is Christine from Hope Air’s digital team, documenting the journey to help share the stories of patients in remote communities. Together, we explore the impact of rural healthcare gaps, the power of aviation in bridging them, and the behind-the-scenes of flying small planes through smoky, low-visibility skies.
Our day ends with a celebration at the Bush Plane Museum in Sault Ste. Marie — including live music, public outreach, and a touching tribute to those impacted by wildfires. As fires and smoke challenge our planned route, we discuss giving up hotel rooms for evacuees and re-routing toward Winnipeg.
