Second attempt at this title by our heroes from Manchester, UK. The song was originally recorded by its author, Brian Chatton on his 1981 album, “Playing For Time”; he also released it on 45. The Hollies’ first attempt was produced by Brian Chatton and released as a single on Polydor the same year. It didn’t chart.
Around this time, Terry Sylvester and Bernie Calvert left the Hollies, who then had a surprise UK hit with a medley of their past hits, “Holliedaze”. They invited Graham Nash to rejoin them for an appearance on UK’s “Top Of The Pops” and agreed to cut an album for Atlantic. It was a US success, reaching #90 on the album chart, while the lead track, “Stop In The Name Of Love” made it to #29 on the Hot-100.
Brian Chatton has been involved in many projects in the music business over the years. In the mid-80s, he was a member of Boys Don’t Cry’ who scored a US hit album with their self-titled album and a hit single with , “I Wanna Be A Cowboy”.
