Trying to learn the hand drill method (fire by friction).
I tried using a Horseweed spindle with a Poplar fireboard on the first couple attempts. I tried using a Cedar fireboard on the last attempt. I'm gettin' smoke and dark dust, just not getting the temp high enough for a coal/ ember.
My palms are sore from trying a couple days earlier.
