One way to practice the bow drill friction fire method without having to get on the ground. Good for those who have problems with their knees as you can be in a sitting position as opposed to a kneeling position.
At first, I thought it wouldn't really be doable due to the lack of stability (supporting the spindle) and adequate downward pressure. Using a small bow drill set helped, I think.
Not a practical method in the field, but it's one way to practice without having to get on the ground to do it.
The goal was only to get a coal.
