Backpacking through Grand Valley and along Lillian Ridge is one of the most rewarding high-country trips in Olympic National Park. The route offers a blend of wildflower-filled meadows, crystalline lakes, lofty ridgelines, and sweeping mountain vistas. Hikers are rewarded with both a sense of remoteness and the chance to complete a classic loop with excellent overnight camping options. Access is via a scenic but narrow, winding gravel road off Hurricane Ridge Road that ends at the Obstruction Point Trailhead. From there, the trail eventually drops from a dry, windswept ridge into a lush valley with creeks, subalpine meadows, and beautiful Moose, Grand, and Gladys Lakes. The climb back to Lillian Ridge and over Moose Mountain is strenuous, with some steep, exposed rock sections, but the feeling of standing atop the roof of the Olympic Mountains makes all the effort worthwhile
